As we come upon the 2 year anniversary of this trajedy, the Dykeman family are on my mind and in my prayers even more. My husband was with Phil right before he was taken home to be with Jesus, we are still mourning for the loss of this wonderful man. Thank you for this blog, it is so wonderful to be able to read how Phil's legace lives on. God bless you all.

I knew Phil while living in Rota, SP and had kept in touch with him on and off over the years, keeping tabs on the 22 year old boy as he became a man of substance. To me, Phil stood for the love of family, his men and his country; and never wavered in his beliefs. I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a good, compassionate and honorable man and my heart breaks for the family he left behind.

Phil and I served together at MCSF Co. Rota way back when. I recently heard of his untimely passing. We were young Marines back then and we had more fun than should have been allowed. Phil was a loyal Marine and friend and my life was made better by knowing Phil. God Bless him and his family.

i just got out of the marine corps November 30th. 2008 Capt. Dykeman was my commanding officer in Fox company. i had already been with Fox for two years when he came to us. i miss him. he was the type of leader who didnt care what people thought about him when he would come around and ask us what is going on and what he could do for us. he always put us his marines fist and then himself second. he was a great marine and a awesome commanding officer. he will never be forgotten.
